Books & Bots Advisory (@BooksAndBotsAI), a financial controller with 21 years in accounting, wrote about 50 Claude skills for NetSuite close work — balance sheet recs, accruals, CEO deck, budget vs actual, 13-week cash forecast — with Phase 1 matching today’s output exactly and Phase 2 teaching Claude what “wrong” looks like.

Try it now
- Pick one report you already produce every month. Make Phase 1 an exact match of today’s output and tie-outs.
- Write the skill like desk instructions: data source, output format, what must tie to $0.00, and what it may never do (e.g. never plug).
- Add Phase 2 rules from real past mistakes. Keep anything that posts to the GL behind a human approval.
You are my month-end skill for [account/report]. Data source: [NetSuite saved search / SuiteQL]. Open last month’s working paper first and roll forward. Reproduce last month’s GL balance exactly before adding new items. Output the same workbook tabs we use today. Variance to GL must show $0.00 with real formulas — never hardcode or plug. If the variance isn’t explained, report the gap and stop. Never post to the GL.
