Dan Sherrard-Smith runs his own LinkedIn and AI training business. His setup is Apollo to find his ideal clients, Notion to track who he’s messaged and when they reply, and one Claude plugin on Claude desktop. Every Monday at 9am, the plugin finds the leads, reads each one’s profile and last post, drafts a personal comment and a DM, and logs everything in Notion for him to approve.
Who did it
Try it now
- Set up a lead list in Apollo (or your CRM) filtered to your ideal client.
- Make a Notion database with name, profile link, last post, comment draft, DM draft, status and reply date.
- In Claude desktop, set a Monday 9am run that pulls new leads, reads each profile and last post, and drafts a comment and a DM.
- Have it log everything in Notion as drafts. You read, edit and post the ones you like.
- Each Monday, have it list who replied so you follow up by hand.
Every Monday at 9am: pull [10-20] new leads from [Apollo list]. For each, read their profile and their last post. Draft one short comment on that post that adds something real (no flattery), and one DM under 60 words that mentions their post and asks one easy question. Log name, link, post summary, comment draft, DM draft and status “to review” in [Notion database]. Don’t post or send anything. At the end, list everyone who replied last week.
Make it run every week
A play works once. Turn it into a routine in three small steps:
- Run it once and check the result yourself.
- Give your AI a schedule. Tell it when to run this play (every week, or every month) and to message you with what it found before you act.
- Keep a log. One line per run: what was checked, anything flagged, what you did.
What to watch out for
Self-reported from his own post, three weeks old. LinkedIn limits automated activity, so keep posting and sending by hand, and keep the volume human. Comments that read like AI do more harm than good, so edit every one. Build it with Page: a simple page about your offer to link in your DMs.
