Chasing sales teams for training slots handed off: $1,900 in spiffs in one month, more than all of last year

Since Oct 1: 15 internal sales trainings, 2 customer workshops (one of them a 5 hour whiteboarding session) and $1,900 in spiffs earned. All of last fiscal year (Oct to Sep), doing it by hand, he earned $1,850 in these spiffs.

Chris Olsson is a sales engineer who specializes in F5 products. F5, a vendor, runs an incentive program that pays engineers like him $100 every time they train an internal sales team and $200 for every customer workshop. He had been doing it a little here and there. Last month he handed it to Grok Bot. It found all 51 sales directors and solutions architect directors in his company's Outlook directory and left draft emails asking for 10 to 15 minutes on their next team call. He proofread and hit send. It logs every call with the date, the team and how many people were invited, writes the spiff claim email with every calendar invite attached, and drafts a bump reply when someone said yes but hasn't sent the invite. He says it funded itself for the next year.

Try it now

  1. Write down the paid activity you keep putting off and what each one pays.
  2. Have the bot find the right people in your company directory and draft a short ask for time on their next team call.
  3. Proofread the drafts and send them yourself.
  4. Have it log every session with the date, the team and the number of people invited.
  5. Have it draft the claim with the proof attached, and a bump reply for anyone who said yes but never sent the invite.
Copy-paste prompt
Find all the sales directors and solutions architect directors that work for my company using the directory in Outlook and draft an email to them asking for 10 to 15 minutes on their next team call. Leave the drafts in my Outlook so I can proofread and send them myself.

Make it run every week

A play works once. Turn it into a routine in three small steps:

  1. Run it once and check the result yourself.
  2. Give your AI a schedule. Tell it when to run this play (every week, or every month) and to message you with what it found before you act.
  3. Keep a log. One line per run: what was checked, anything flagged, what you did.

What to watch out for

Self-reported from his own post, and the $1,900 is spiff pay from F5's incentive program (a vendor), not from his employer's partner program and not his company's revenue. Check your own incentive program's rules before you claim anything. Safer version: keep the bot to drafts, the way he did, and send every email and claim yourself. Build it with Page: a simple page that lists the trainings you offer, so teams can book you without a long email chain.
