Build a ChatGPT + Gmail + Sheets prospecting engine that starts real conversations

self-reported

76 prospects contacted, 133 emails including follow-ups, 14 replies (18.4%), 8 booked calls and 2 new clients at $4,000 each: $8,000 in new sales. No ads, no paid CRM, no SDR.

Jeremy C. Jones helps coaches turn their expertise into books that bring in clients. He wanted a steady way to find B2B clients without hours of manual prospecting. He set up ChatGPT to research prospects that match one clear ideal client, with a timing signal like expanding or hiring, and put them in a Google Sheet. Gmail is connected so the AI drafts a short, personal first email for each one. The first email doesn’t pitch. It mentions something specific about their business, says why he’s reaching out, offers one idea and asks a low-pressure question. His advice: start with a small batch you review by hand, track replies in the Sheet, then schedule the research to repeat.

Try it now

  1. Write down one ideal client and the signal that says they’re ready now (just expanded, hiring, launched something).
  2. Have ChatGPT research businesses that fit, check their websites and add name, email, website and one specific detail to a Google Sheet.
  3. Use the Sheet as your dashboard: prospects, email drafts, send dates, replies and booked calls.
  4. Connect Gmail and have ChatGPT draft a short first email per prospect: one specific detail, why you’re reaching out, one idea, one easy question. No pitch.
  5. Send a small batch you’ve read yourself, track replies, then schedule the research to run every week.
Copy-paste prompt
I sell [service] to [ideal client]. A good prospect right now shows this signal: [signal, e.g. just hired, just opened a second location]. Find 20 businesses that fit. For each, check the website and add a row to my Google Sheet with: name, contact email if it’s listed publicly, website, where you found them, and one specific detail I could mention. Then draft a first email for each, under 90 words: mention the detail, say why I’m reaching out, offer one useful idea and end with one low-pressure question. No pitch, no links. Put the drafts in the Sheet for me to review. Don’t send anything.

Make it run every week

A play works once. Turn it into a routine in three small steps:

  1. Run it once and check the result yourself.
  2. Give your AI a schedule. Tell it when to run this play (every week, or every month) and to message you with what it found before you act.
  3. Keep a log. One line per run: what was checked, anything flagged, what you did.
