self-reportedHis AI CFO bot audited 424 real shipping labels in a week and showed that "free shipping" had quietly eaten $1,220 so far this year. It also showed that moving an order from Etsy to Shopify saves $10.78 per box.
Peter Ohser left corporate life for the Colorado foothills and runs Blue Elk Woodworks, a small woodshop that sells cedar bird feeders on Etsy and Shopify. He runs about 30 AI bots, each with one job and strict limits. When a feeder sells on Etsy, a Shop Ops bot buys the USPS label in Shippo, checks the PDF so it folds cleanly, prints the label and a care sheet in the shop, and tells his Shopify bot to sync inventory. An AI CFO bot went through 424 real shipping labels and found what free shipping was really costing him.
Who did it
Try it now
- Export your shipping labels for the year from Shippo, Etsy or Shopify, with what the customer paid for shipping on each order.
- Give them to one bot whose only job is money and ask it to compare label cost against shipping charged, order by order.
- Have it total what free shipping cost you so far this year and which products or zones lose the most.
- Ask it to compare the same order on each of your sales channels, fees and shipping included, per box.
- You decide the price, threshold or channel change. The bot only reports.
Here are this year's shipping labels and orders. For each order, compare what the label cost with what the customer paid for shipping, then total how much free shipping cost me so far this year and show which products lose the most. Report only, don't change any prices.
Make it run every week
A play works once. Turn it into a routine in three small steps:
- Run it once and check the result yourself.
- Give your AI a schedule. Tell it when to run this play (every week, or every month) and to message you with what it found before you act.
- Keep a log. One line per run: what was checked, anything flagged, what you did.
What to watch out for
Self-reported from his own X post. In a reply he confirms the tool: "100% Grok Bot" (https://x.com/PeterOhser/status/2115475251303944492). He also lets a bot check out purchases on his card; skip that part. Safer version: keep his own rule that only one bot touches money, with its own small account and fixed limits (from his reply https://x.com/PeterOhser/status/2116289697777631385), and have the CFO bot report while you decide. Build it with Page: your own simple shop page, so you can send repeat buyers somewhere without marketplace fees.
